Description

Growing up is not easy, and sometimes it’s hard to cope with whatever life throws at you.

We are a Child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), and we are here to help you with your wellbeing.

Whole Family Service
  • Who we can help

We can help (or connect you to services that can help) if you:

    • feel low or like you have no motivation
    • have problems with your family, friends or at school
    • do not feel able to attend school
    • feel angry and struggle to control your actions or temper
    • hurt yourself or want to hurt yourself
    • feel worried and anxious most of the time
    • have trouble with sleeping (not sleeping or sleeping all the time, disturbed sleep)
    • find it hard to concentrate
    • do not like yourself or have low self-confidence
    • have had frightening, life threatening or traumatic experiences that still bother you
    • have experienced bullying (in-person or online)
    • might not see your parents regularly
    • hear voices or see things
    • have to check or repeat things, or worry about germs
    • feel uncomfortable with the way your body looks or find eating difficult
    • have experienced the death of a loved one
    • find it hard to stop smoking, drinking, or using drugs, gaming or social media.

If you are experiencing one or more of these difficulties and are under 18, then we can help.

  • What to expect

It can be really hard to talk about things that make life difficult, so knowing what to expect from an appointment can make this a bit easier

We’ll try to get to know you and find out about what brought you to us. We’ll talk about what difficulties you are currently experiencing, your hopes and goals, and what we can offer that may help you to feel better.

You can come to see us alone, with a family member or an adult you trust. Coming to see us is voluntary ( it is totally your decision).

With your permission, we might also want to talk to your family and other professionals who know you to get a good understanding of the difficulties you are experiencing.

We will then decide together with you what to do next and may suggest things that could help.

  • Where will my appointment take place?

We can see you at your local clinic, school, home or wherever you feel most comfortable to meet.

  • What can we do to help?

We offer one-to-one therapy, where you can talk to someone trained to help you understand what’s going on in your life and find different ways of coping.

We also offer family therapy if your family is going through a tough time or is finding it hard to understand you.

  • How long does treatment last?

There is no limit on the number of times you can be seen.

Some people feel better more quickly than others, so we try to review how things are going throughout to make sure we are moving towards your goals.

  • Who you'll meet

We are a group of mental health professionals, each with a different set of skills, but all here for you.

    You might talk to:

    • Psychologists
    • Family Therapists
    • Nurses
    • Social Workers
    • Psychiatrists
    • Psychotherapists
