Description

Family Mental Health Team (FMHT) is part of child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) for children and young people up to the age of 18 with a range of mental health presentations living in Barnet, Enfield, Haringey or Islington (all NCL boroughs apart from Camden).

The team will assess and treat a wide range of emotional and behavioural problems. We also provide services to support difficulties in parenting and issues caused by parental separation.

We work with complex issues, for example with families where courts or other agencies are involved. We aim to ensure that all of the agencies around the child work together.

You will be seen within four weeks of us receiving the referral from your GP, school or social worker. During the initial consultation we will assess your needs, find out more about what’s brought you to us and think of ways we or our partner agencies can support you.

At the end of our assessment, we will agree a treatment plan with you, which is regularly reviewed. Once you are allocated to a specific clinician on our team, you will agree and review some goals you wish to achieve and that help us focus our work with you. There is some waiting time involved, but we will do our best to support you in the meantime.
