Islington CAMHS Adolescent Assessment and Outreach Team (AAOT)

AAOT is a specialist mental health team, within Islington CAMHS. AAOT has multiple functions working with adolescents who have high-risk, acute, complex and severe mental health difficulties.

We provide a rapid assessment, treatment service for young people in mental health crisis. We engage with and provide active discharge planning for all young people experiencing a mental health hospital admission, aiming to offer a seamless and highly supportive discharge package.

We also provide long-term, high intensity support for young people who have complex, severe and enduring mental health problems.

  • What to expect

All young people open to AAOT have an allocated case manager but may well work with several other professionals within the team alongside the case manager.  AAOT uses a multi-disciplinary team approach to providing specialist, intensive care and treatment for our complex patients and their families.

We are a creative, flexible and at times intensive clinical service.  We use a variety of evidence-based treatment models and approaches.

We will meet with young people in clinic, at school, in the local community and at home as needed to support engagement and access to treatment.

We work closely with a wide range of other professionals, agencies, and local services to provide joined-up interventions to our high risk, vulnerable client group and their families.
