St Giles Trust shows people there is a way to build a better future – for themselves and those they care about – and help them create this through support, advice and training. We raise awareness of their situation and fight their corner to ensure long term changes are put in place.

Issues we work with

The people we help each year have a diverse range of needs. These cover:

• Help for vulnerable young people involved in or at risk of criminal exploitation
• Prison and community based support for people in the criminal justice system
• Specialist support for adults facing complex barriers
• Services helping adults & young people facing unemployment and poverty
• Help for vulnerable women and families

Children and families

Many of our clients have families who are in need of support to address issues such as poverty, bad housing, gang involvement and substance misuse. We support whole families to help them address underlying issues, build resilience and independence.

Work with children

We provide services specifically aimed at children experiencing adverse circumstances such as having a parent in prison.

Children are the unseen victims of parental imprisonment and our work aims to minimise trauma, enable them to thrive and support their parents/carers with any issues they may be experiencing.

Work with families affected by gangs

We work with local authorities to provide support for families affected by gangs and violence.

A young person’s gang involvement often has a wider impact on their family who may be at risk of reprisals, grooming and other factors. We work with families to get them the help they need to ensure risks to them are minimised whilst supporting the young person to safely exit gangs.

Help for families experiencing poverty

Across our services, we help families affected by poverty.

In particular, we offer specialist support around welfare benefits, debts and accessing emergency relief such as grants and help to address food poverty.
